DAY 1 - FRANCE - BARI - MATERA (BASILICATA)

Matera, Bari.

Arrival at Bari airport, pick-up of hire car and drive to Basilicata, a region with a rich natural landscape and unique cultural heritage, including Matera, a must-see town that exudes mystique at nightfall. Dinner not included and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 - MATERA

Matera.

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a stroll through Matera to admire the famous "Sassi", the houses in the troglodyte districts formed by white buildings terraced in such a way that the roofs serve as streets. You can discover this fascinating city by visiting a vast complex of galleries and caves carved into the tuff rock! Dinner not included and overnight stay in Matera.

DAY 3 - MATERA - CASTELLANA ALBEROBELLO CAVE

Alberobello, Matera.

Castellana Caves.

Breakfast at the hotel. Explore the Castellana Caves, a spectacular complex of underground caverns stretching for over 3,300 metres and offering a magnificent natural spectacle. Continue on to Alberobello. Dinner not included and overnight stay in the Alberobello area.

DAY 4 - ALBEROBELLO & TRULLI

Alberobello.

Trulli Rione Aia Piccola (Unesco).

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Alberobello: this UNESCO-listed site is a must on any trip to Puglia. You'll enjoy strolling through the small winding streets, discovering the "trulli", the region's typical circular houses topped with conical roofs. At the end of the day, enjoy a pre-dinner drink at one of our favourite locations in Alberobello. Dinner not included and overnight stay in the Alberobello area.

DAY 5 - POLIGNANO A MARE MONOPOLI

Monopoli, Polignano A Mare.

Breakfast at the hotel. Take the road towards the coast, bound for Polignano A Mare. Admire the scenery, with its beautiful panoramic view of houses clinging to the cliffs... Then take a lovely stroll through the winding little streets steeped in history and overlooking the sea. Not far away, in Monopoli, the town's medieval centre is well worth a visit, especially the beautiful view from the castle... Dinner not included and overnight stay in the Alberobello region.

DAY 6 - OSTUNI LECCE

Ostuni, Lecce.

Breakfast at the hotel. Then on to Ostuni, a town built on three hills overlooking endless olive groves. Its Old Town will amaze you with its picturesque character and narrow streets dotted with white houses and Baroque or Renaissance palaces. Continue on to Lecce. Dinner not included and overnight stay in the Lecce region.

DAY 7 - LECCE - OTRANTO GALLIPOLI

Lecce.

Otranto, Gallipoli.

Breakfast at the hotel. Discover Lecce, the "Baroque Florence", which welcomes you in a magnificent architectural setting. Admire the particularly soft local stone found in the many ruins that make this city so renowned for its culture. Alternatively, head to the easternmost tip of Italy, to Otranto. Listen to the locals speak in the region's ancient dialect, which is very close to Greek, and stroll around the old town to visit the cathedral with its amazing mosaic floor. Dinner not included and overnight stay in the Lecce region.

DAY 8 - LECCE - BARI - FRANCE

Lecce, Bari.

This is the end of your journey through the magnificent region that is Puglia. Return your vehicle to Bari Airport, then board your return plane. The order of the tours may be reversed due to local constrains but the overall itinerary will still be followed.

For the duration of your self-tour, you will be accommodated for 7 nights in the following 4-star hotels (local standards) or similar:

  • Matera area: 4-star hotel: Hotel Nazionale (or similar): on days 1 and 2.
  • Alberobello area: 4-star hotel: Colle del Sole (or similar): days 3,4, and 5
  • Lecce area: 4-star hotel: GH Delle Palme (or similar): on days 6 and 7

If you are travelling alone, you will be asked to pay a surcharge for a single room. This additional charge will be automatically included in your quote.
Child rates will be applied for children from 2 to 12 years old in the case where the child shares the room with two adults. If the child is travelling with just one adult, the surcharge may be applied on an adult basis. If your child or children do not fit into the age group mentioned above, the rate will be communicated to you at the time of processing your order. If the room is equipped with a bunk bed, the bed height is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
For safety reasons, the wellbeing facilities of most establishments are not accessible to children under 16 years old. Similarly, it is possible that some amenities or services require an additional charge or are unavailable for exceptional reasons.

Once your reservation has been made, you will receive a confirmation e-mail before your travel documents are sent.
Regarding the transport documents (in the case of a reservation with transport included), we will provide you with all the information relating to check-in and luggage in the "Your travel documents" email, allowing you to leave with peace of mind.

Transportation

In order to best organise your time in the airport, we advise that you arrive 2 hours before boarding for a medium-haul flight, or 3 hours before boarding for a long-haul flight (more than 5 hours). Take advantage of your early arrival to pass through security and check your luggage.

You will have the opportunity to add additional luggage for a fee.
There are several different cities that are typically offered as departure points. Your arrival destination will show in your travel documents.
Depending on the flight schedule, some arrivals or returns may be made at night with early arrival or late departure. You will not always be able to have your room available immediately and will need to refer to the check-in and check-out conditions of the hotel.
In the event that your transfer is not included in your hotel reservation, it may be offered at the time of your reservation as an additional option. Unless specifically mentioned, transfers may be made in groups of 15 to 55 people.

Regarding access to Venice, in accordance with the latest regulations of the local Venetian authorities, from April 3 to July 26, 2026, entry to the city is subject to an Access Fee unless the visitor falls under one of the exemption categories. The fee is applied from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To qualify for an exemption, prior registration and the issuance of a voucher with a QR code are mandatory. Travelers staying in accommodation located within the city of Venice and paying the local tourist tax are exempt from the Access Fee; however, they must still obtain a QR code indicating their stay. Travelers under 14 years old are exempt from payment and only need to prove their age with an identification document.

Steps to obtain the QR code:
Go to the official website https://cda.ve.it/en/ (https://cda.ve.it/en/) and select “Request an exemption”.
Choose “I am a guest in an accommodation facility in Venice” and click on “Request exemption”.
Enter your arrival and departure dates.
Fill in the accommodation number XXXXXX and select the option YYYYY corresponding to your status as a guest of the establishment.
Add the names of other travelers under the “Add holder” section.
You will receive your QR code electronically and should keep a digital copy. If requested, it must be presented to authorized personnel at the main access points to the city.
