Please refer to the information below regarding travel formalities for each destination (identity documents, vaccinations, visa, travel advice). Entry rules depend on your nationality: please check the requirements for your own passport with your airline or the UAE embassy in your country before departure. For further information, please consult the following websites:

Your own government's travel advice for the United Arab Emirates, and its traveller registration service if available.
Embassy of the United Arab Emirates:
Contact the UAE embassy or consulate in your country of residence. Note that UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas for ordinary passports: visas are applied for online or through the airline.
Your country's embassy in the United Arab Emirates:
Most embassies are located in Abu Dhabi, with consulates in Dubai. Note their address and emergency number before departure.
Vaccinations
No vaccination is mandatory for most travellers. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for travellers arriving from endemic areas. Routine vaccinations, including measles, should be up to date.
Visa
For hotel stays:
Citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar enjoy freedom of movement and may enter with their national identity card. Citizens of the European Union, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other countries receive a free entry stamp on arrival, generally valid for 90 days within any 180-day period (30 days for some nationalities). Other nationalities must obtain a visa before departure, online (https://smartservices.icp.gov.ae or the Dubai GDRFA), through the airline (Emirates, Etihad, flydubai, Air Arabia and others) or through a UAE hotel or tour operator acting as sponsor. Residents of Gulf (GCC) countries can apply online for a dedicated e-visa. The UAE authorities may refuse entry without giving reasons.
Medicines containing controlled substances (for example codeine) require prior import authorisation from the UAE Ministry of Health, and must be carried in their original packaging with the prescription.
A tourism fee per room and per night is paid directly at the hotel ("Tourism Dirham" in Dubai, AED 7 to 20 depending on the category; similar fees in the other emirates).
Holders of official passports should check the rules for their nationality with the UAE embassy.
For organised tours:
The same conditions apply. Travellers whose nationality requires a visa must obtain it before departure; it can be arranged by the airline or by a UAE hotel or tour operator acting as sponsor. The tourism fee is included or paid locally depending on the hotels of the tour.
Identity
All travellers, individually or in a group, need a passport in good condition, valid for at least six months on the date of entry into the UAE (three months for UAE residents). Only citizens of GCC countries may use a national identity card.
Emergency passports are not recognised in the UAE. Passports without a full date of birth (day/month/year) are not recognised, and entry may be refused if the passport shows an "X" instead of the name, first name or date of birth.
