Suggested sightseeing: Head for the unspoilt backstreets of Yanaka and Yokocho in Kagurazaka, where the traditional wooden houses and numerous stalls take you back to the Japan of yesteryear. You can also explore the city's many temples, including the majestic Senso-ji, the Meiji-jingu temple in the heart of the Yoyogi forest and the Nezu-Jinja shrine with its charming Torii paths. Finally, the Nezu Museum, a treasure trove of cultural heritage, is well worth a visit for enthusiasts of Asian art.

Suggested sightseeing: Head to Tokyo's Imperial Garden, where the immaculate gardens and tranquil ponds offer a haven of peace in the heart of the city. Or take a stroll through Ueno Park, another relaxing spot famous for its ancient temples and vast expanses of green. For foodies, the alleys of Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku are the place to be. Here you can discover famous Japanese dishes such as yakitori (kebabs) and okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes). For tasty snacks, don't hesitate to browse the city's markets, such as Ameya Yokocho or Nakamise Dori. Take a diversion to the old Tsukiji fish market , whose outdoor food market remains open, especially in the mornings.

Day 7 | Tokyo - Hakone

Suggested sightseeing: This is where you'll experience Mount Fuji, the true symbol of Japan. Start by visiting the Hakone-jinja sanctuary with its large vermilion Torii, then take a boat across Lake Ashi to enjoy the view of Mount Fuji. Continue by cable car to Owakudani to see the impressive fumaroles of the sulphur quarry. It's also the ideal place to enjoy the hot springs and stroll through the open-air art museum for an original nature walk. This is a must if you want to immerse yourself in Japanese culture: try a night in a Ryokan, an authentic Japanese inn, where you can enjoy a moment of Zen and take a dip in one of the many Onsen, the famous hot springs so popular after a day's sightseeing. To round off your experience, enjoy a delicious meal of Japanese specialities in your Ryokan.

Note: Make your journey easier by taking advantage of the luggage transfer service. Your luggage will be collected from your Tokyo hotel early in the morning and transferred to your Osaka hotel, meaning you won't have to carry it with you on your journey from Tokyo to Hakone and Hakone to Osaka. A small bag is therefore necessary for your overnight stay in Hakone.
Day 8 | Hakone - departure for Osaka
Breakfast in a Ryokan and departure for Osaka by train (change at Odawara). Day at leisure.
Suggested visits: Osaka, neighbouring Kyoto, is a must for experiencing Japanese cuisine and festivities. Considered the country's shopping capital, it has many covered streets, known as 'Shotengai', which are full of street food and handicrafts. Begin your visit at Osaka Castle, one of the country's most important, which has withstood the test of time and conflict. For an in-depth look at the city's history, continue with a visit to the Osaka History Museum.

Day 9 | Day at Universal Studios Japan

Day trip to Universal Studios Japan: Located in Osaka, this is the 5th most visited theme park in the world. Step into the world of cinema's greatest classics: Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Spider-Man and Despicable Me, to name a few! The park's thirty or so attractions, spread across eight zones, will delight children and adults alike. Unforgettable memories are guaranteed!

Activation of your 3-day Kansai Area Pass to discover the Kansai region.
Suggested visits: Stroll through the districts of Umeda, Namba and Shinsaibashi to do your shopping, then head out in the evening to the streets of Dotombori to sample the best local specialities such as kushikatsu or takoyaki, all in a unique atmosphere, surrounded by neon lights and eccentric bars. If you want to stay a little more in touch with traditional Japan, visit the magnificent Sumiyoshi shrine or the Osaka Tenmangu, located right next to the Tenma Pulala market with its Tenjinbashisuji artisan shopping street. Finally, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Ghibli films in the north of Osaka at Minoh. Stroll along a nature trail, bordered by a river and Japanese maples overlooking a waterfall, before finishing in style at Katsuo-ji temple and its thousands of daruma. With your Kansai Area Pass, you can travel by train to many cities, including Kobe, Himeji, Nara, Wakayama and many more!

Suggested sightseeing: Use your Pass to discover Kyoto! Japan's former imperial capital, Kyoto has preserved its cultural treasures for your enjoyment! Begin with a Zen walk through the Arashiyama bamboo grove and Tenryu-ji Temple. Then head to the city centre districts and stroll around Gion, where you might catch a glimpse of a geisha. Next, stop off at the renowned Nishiki market, which is famous for its size and the variety of culinary specialities on offer. No visit to Kyoto would be complete without seeing the magnificent Fushimi Inari Shinto shrine, with its thousands of red torii gates nestled in the forest. Next, take a walk through the southern Higashiyama district to see the famous Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Maruyama-koen Park, and the Chion-in Temple, among others. Further north, be sure to visit Nanzen-ji, a renowned Zen temple. Finish your visit at the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, take Hontsuji-dori Street to Ninna-ji Temple, passing through the Ryoan-ji stone garden along the way.

Suggested visits: Use your Pass to discover Himeji: If there's one castle in Japan not to be missed, it's Himeji Castle. This 14th-century fortress, also known as the White Heron Castle, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, probably due to its beauty and architectural significance. Complete your visit with a stroll through the unique Koko-en Zen Garden, comprising nine separate gardens laid out using Edo period techniques. Himeji is also renowned for its Bizen pottery. Take the time to visit one of the local workshops to discover this lesser-known craft and pick up an original souvenir of your trip!

Day 13 | Osaka - return flight
Breakfast at the hotel. Shared shuttle transfer to Kansai Airport (KIX) or Itami (ITM) for the return flight.

All specific requests for sleeping arrangements (double/separate beds) are subject to availability and may incur a supplement.
For technical reasons, hotels may be replaced with similar accommodation, and itineraries may be reversed.
In Japan, hotel rooms are often quite narrow and beds small.
The accommodation included in this tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility.
Check-in is usually in the middle of the afternoon (3 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
Please note that some hotels offer an eco-stay package. (Depending on the hotel, bed linen and room cleaning are carried out approximately every 3 days.)
If the first or last day is shortened due to late arrival or early departure caused by airline schedules, no refund will be given. Similarly, any meals included in the board package that cannot be taken due to these timetables cannot be reimbursed.
Also, depending on the timetable of any optional extras and excursions, any meals that cannot be taken at the hotel will be at the customer's expense.
MEALS
As part of this offer, breakfast is included during the tour, as well as half-board (excluding drinks) for your night in a ryokan in Hakone. All other meals are at your own expense.
Please note that meals in the Ryokan are served very early (from 5 p.m.).
TRANSPORT
Transfer by shuttle bus from the airport to your hotel in Tokyo: The transfer is by shared shuttle bus. It drops you off in front of your hotel and may make several stops along the way.
Luggage allowance: 1 piece of luggage per person included; for additional luggage, please contact us before departure.
Luggage transfer between Tokyo and Osaka: Take advantage of the luggage transfer service to make your journey easier: your luggage will be collected from your hotel in Tokyo early in the morning and transferred to your hotel in Osaka, so that you are not overcrowded during the Tokyo-Hakone and Hakone-Osaka journeys. You'll need to bring a small bag for your overnight stay in Hakone.
Hakone Free Pass : This allows you to travel to Hakone from Tokyo Shinjuku on the Odakyu line. After changing at Odawara, travel to Hakone and use your pass to take the Hakone Tozan buses, the Hakone Tozan cable cars, the Lake Ashi cruise boat and the funicular railway, among others. You'll also benefit from discounts on certain tourist attractions!
Odawara (Hakone) - Kyoto train : In Japan, the train is undoubtedly one of the best ways of getting around quickly and easily. Hakone is around 2 hours from Kyoto, and your Hakone Free Pass will take you first to Odawara station, where you can catch your connecting train to Kyoto. Please note that train timetables will be provided in your travel information booklet.
Kansai Area Pass - 3 days: The Kansai Area Pass gives you unlimited access for 3 days to the various trains of the JR rail system in the Kansai region, as well as to JR buses. It also gives you one-day access to certain Keihan, Hankyu and Kyoto metro lines.
Transfer by shuttle bus from Osaka to Kansai airport (KIX) or Itami airport (ITM ): The transfer is by shared shuttle bus. It drops you off at the airport and may make several stops along the way.
