Safety
In view of the fact that the Vigipirate plan has been upgraded to the "Urgence attentat" level throughout France, increased vigilance is recommended for all French nationals living in or visiting countries in the Middle East, North Africa and East Africa. On days when demonstrations are taking place, it is advisable to avoid the city centre of Nairobi (CBD) and the vicinity of official buildings (Parliament and State House in particular), and to stay away from all gatherings.
Currency
Kenya's national currency is the Kenyan shilling, represented by the symbol ‘KSh’. As far as international currencies are concerned, it is usually possible to pay in US dollars at most accommodation, restaurants, and tourist sites.
Weather
As Kenya is an equatorial country, its climate is tropical, with alternating wet and dry seasons. However, the weather varies from region to region. Coastal areas are hot and humid, while temperatures tend to be milder inland and at higher altitudes.
