Begin in Shibuya and Harajuku to immerse yourself in the pulse of Japanese fashion, then wander towards the Imperial Palace for a glimpse into centuries of imperial history. When you’re ready to slow the pace, Ueno Park provides a serene escape beneath its broad, leafy avenues.

Explore the nightlife in Shinjuku and Kabukichō, and enjoy Japanese cuisine in the local izakayas. In Akihabara, discover pop-culture and retro-gaming treasures. In Asakusa, visit the Buddhist Sensō-ji Temple, and do not miss Tokyo Skytree for panoramic views.

It’s a place where every glance feels like a postcard come to life. To move easily between viewpoints, hop into a taxi and make your way to Arakurayama Sengen Park. With its graceful pagoda rising above the treetops and Mount Fuji towering in the background, the park offers one of Japan’s most unforgettable panoramas. If luck is on your side, you may even spot mischievous monkeys exploring the higher paths. Continue your journey to the cable car, which glides up to the summit of Mount Tenjo, where a sweeping 360‑degree view awaits, and Mount Fuji reveals itself in all its breathtaking splendour.

In the picturesque Gion district, wander through cobbled lanes lined with traditional tea houses, where geishas move with quiet grace and the atmosphere feels suspended in time. Immerse yourself in Japanese culture by attending classical dance performances or discovering the refined rituals of the tea ceremony. For a breath of nature, stroll through the majestic Arashiyama bamboo forest or enjoy a playful moment at the Monkey Park. Finally, treat yourself to the culinary delights of Nishiki Market, a vibrant food hall with more than 400 years of history.

Breakfast at the hotel. Travel by train from Kyoto to the city of Nara (payable locally). Lunch and dinner are not included.

Suggested sights:

Nara, Japan’s former capital, is brimming with UNESCO World Heritage sites, but it is best known for its deer, which come down from the mountains during the day and mingle with visitors. Start your journey at the station and walk up the main street. Do try some mochi, a traditional Japanese sweet. Continue your stroll to the deer park and offer the deer some rice cakes, which will delight them. Pass through the giant gate of Todai-ji Temple with its imposing statues, and admire the majestic Buddhist figure housed within. Then, from the terrace of Nigatsu-dō Temple, take in the splendid panoramic view of the city of Nara. On the way to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, discover the traditional stone lanterns intertwined with the moss on the trees. This mysterious and unique atmosphere evokes a sense of fulfilment.

Hiroshima, a city forever marked by the atomic bombing during the Second World War, blends modernity with reminders of its past. Suggested sightseeing:

For a change of scenery, head to Miyajima Island. Take a photo in front of Itsukushima Shrine’s famous torii gate, which stands in the water and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through the island’s peaceful paths, where deer roam freely and lend an almost mythical charm to the landscape.
