This 4-star road trip through the Peloponnese takes you to some of Greece's most fascinating regions, featuring ancient sites, spectacular landscapes and charming villages. This trip allows you to discover the magnificent Peloponnese peninsula at your own pace while stopping off in vibrant Athens, the capital of Greece. With its ancient history, rich culture, and stunning Mediterranean vistas, this tour offers an authentic immersion in the heart of Greece.

Depending on your flight schedule, you will have the opportunity to explore the historic centre of Athens, including the Acropolis, the Parthenon and the ancient Agora. You can also sample local specialities inthe many tavernas.

Then, depart for Nafplio, a town located in the Argolis region. This charming, historic town was the first capital of the Greek state. Along the way, you will cross the Corinth Canal and pass numerous points of interest.

Suggested visits in the region include: Mycenae, Epidaurus and Nemea with its vineyards and the Didyma Dolines. The drive is approx. 140 km.

Make the most of this free day to explore the town of Nafplio and the surrounding area.

The tour then continues with a 150 km journey to the town of Kalamata.

Stop off at the ancient city of Messene on the way, or take a detour to explore the fascinating medieval town of Mystras.

Kalamata is famous for its olives, extra virgin olive oil and local cheese, sfela, all of which are well worth sampling while you're there.

Depart for Olympia, located in the north-west of the Peloponnese. This area is home to one of Greece’s most famous and important archaeological sites and is recognised worldwide as the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

A short detour will take you to the Temple of Apollo Epicurius or Kyparissia Castle.

The journey from Olympia to Patras is just under 2 hours by car via the motorway, covering around 110 km.

As you travel along the west coast of the Peloponnese, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Gulf of Corinth.

Patras is Greece’s third-largest city and a major commercial and port hub. Places of interest: Agios Andreas Cathedral (St Andrew’s), the Archaeological Museum and the Kastro (castle).

Then return to the capital to finish exploring and sightseeing.

If you have the chance, stroll through the narrow streets of Plaka or visit the largest and most famous market in Greece, Varvakeios Market, located in Athens.

Car hire

- Car hire in category B (Fiat Panda or equivalent, subject to availability) for the duration of your stay, with unlimited mileage. Collection and return from Athens Airport.

- Basic insurance is included, but comprehensive insurance can be purchased fromthe rental company as an extra.

- The minimum age for the driver is 21 and the maximum is 70.

- The driver must have held a driving licence for at least one year.

Practical details

If you are travelling alone, you will be asked to pay a surcharge for a single room. This additional charge will be automatically included in your quote.
Child rates will be applied for children from 2 to 12 years old in the case where the child shares the room with two adults. If the child is travelling with just one adult, the surcharge may be applied on an adult basis. If your child or children do not fit into the age group mentioned above, the rate will be communicated to you at the time of processing your order. If the room is equipped with a bunk bed, the bed height is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
For safety reasons, the wellbeing facilities of most establishments are not accessible to children under 16 years old. Similarly, it is possible that some amenities or services require an additional charge or are unavailable for exceptional reasons.

Transportation

In order to best organise your time in the airport, we advise that you arrive 2 hours before boarding for a medium-haul flight, or 3 hours before boarding for a long-haul flight (more than 5 hours). Take advantage of your early arrival to pass through security and check your luggage.
You will be informed whether or not luggage is included at the time of your booking.
You will have the opportunity to add additional luggage for a fee.
There are several different cities that are typically offered as departure points. Your arrival destination will show in your travel documents.
Depending on the flight schedule, some arrivals or returns may be made at night with early arrival or late departure. You will not always be able to have your room available immediately and will need to refer to the check-in and check-out conditions of the hotel.
In the event that your transfer is not included in your hotel reservation, it may be offered at the time of your reservation as an additional option. Unless specifically mentioned, transfers may be made in groups of 15 to 55 people.

Canadian citizens must hold a valid passport to enter Greece. No visa is required for Canadian nationals traveling for short-term tourism or business stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period in the Schengen Area. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area.

For stays longer than 90 days or for purposes other than tourism or business, travelers must comply with Greek and European visa and residence requirements prior to departure.

Travelers are advised to review health recommendations prior to travel. No vaccinations are mandatory for entry into Greece when traveling directly from Canada; however, routine vaccinations should be up to date. Travel insurance including medical coverage is strongly recommended.

Travelers must comply with Greek laws and regulations during their stay. Local laws may differ from those in Canada, and identity checks may be conducted by local authorities.
