Your detailed itinerary
Day 1 | Arrival in Osaka
When you arrive at Kansai International Airport (KIX), reach your Osaka hotel by taking the JR Haruka Express, which is included in the JR Rail Pass, to one of Osaka's main JR stations. Then use the Osaka Metro and Bus Pass to travel further. Enjoy a free day to relax or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.
Day 2 | Osaka - Hiroshima
After breakfast at the hotel, take the Shinkansen to Hiroshima with your JR Rail Pass (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes). Once you arrive, we recommend visiting iconic sites such as the Peace Memorial Park, its museum, and the Genbaku Dome, which bear witness to the city's history. At the end of the day, check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.
Day 3 | Excursion to Miyajima
After breakfast, excursion to Miyajima. We suggest you take a JR train to Miyajimaguchi, then the JR ferry to the island. While there, discover the Itsukushima sanctuary and its famous floating torii, and, weather permitting, explore Mount Misen. Return to Hiroshima at the end of the day.
Day 4 | Hiroshima - Himeji - Kyoto
After breakfast, departure by Shinkansen for Himeji (approx. 1 hr) to visit its castle, a masterpiece of Japanese feudal architecture. Continue by Shinkansen to Kyoto (approx. 1h30) and check into your hotel.
Day 5 | Visit to Kyoto
After breakfast, enjoy a free day to discover the wonders of Kyoto. We recommend a visit to Kinkaku-ji, or the Golden Pavilion, an iconic site covered in gold leaf, as well as Ryoan-ji Zen Temple, renowned for its fascinating dry garden. Continue your exploration at Arashiyama, where you can stroll through the enchanting bamboo grove and admire the view from Togetsukyo Bridge.
Day 6 | Visit to Kyoto
After breakfast, continue your exploration of Kyoto. A visit to the Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its thousands of red torii winding through the mountain, is a must. Next, discover Kiyomizu-dera, a hilltop temple offering spectacular views over the city. Finish your day with a stroll through the historic district of Gion, where you can admire its traditional alleyways and authentic teahouses.
Day 7 | Kyoto - Kanazawa
After breakfast, depart for Kanazawa by JR Thunderbird Express train (approx. 2.5 hours). On arrival, we recommend exploring the beautiful Kenroku-en Garden, famous for its harmony and considered one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan. Next, explore the historic Nagamachi district, a former samurai stronghold where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of feudal Japan.
Day 8 | Visit to Kanazawa
After breakfast, continue your exploration of Kanazawa. The Higashi Chaya geisha district, where you can see traditional teahouses, is well worth a visit. Continue with a visit to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, an innovative venue showcasing modern works. Finish your day with a wander around the Omicho Market, ideal for sampling fresh seafood and discovering the lively local scene.
Day 9 | Kanazawa - Tokyo
After breakfast, depart for Tokyo by Shinkansen Kagayaki or Hakutaka (approx. 2 hours 30 minutes). Once you arrive, we recommend starting with a stroll through the vibrant Shibuya district, which is renowned for its bustling crossroads — one of the busiest in the world. Next, explore the Harajuku district, which is renowned for its unique fashion trends and colourful boutiques. No visit would be complete without a trip to the Meiji Jingu Shrine, a tranquil retreat in the heart of the city that offers a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle.
Day 10 | Tokyo Tour
After breakfast, set off on a tour of Tokyo's must-sees. We suggest you start with Asakusa and its Senso-ji temple, a landmark of Japanese tradition. Then plunge into the high-tech world of Akihabara, famous for its video game shops and pop culture. In the evening, head to Odaiba for a futuristic view of the city, with its modern skyscrapers and unique attractions.
Day 11 | Explore Tokyo and TeamLab Planets
After breakfast, the morning will be devoted to a visit to TeamLab Planets, a unique immersive experience. In the afternoon, explore the upmarket Ginza district for a shopping spree, or take advantage of the tranquillity of Ueno Park to relax and discover its museums.
Day 12 | Tokyo
