Day 1 - Arrival in Italy: Reggio Emilia
Reggio Emilia.
Arrival at Bologna airport. Pick up your rental vehicle and settle in for 3 nights in the Emilia Romagna region. Make your own dinner arrangements and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2 - Parma & Reggio Emilia
Parma, Reggio Emilia.
Breakfast at the hotel. You then set off to explore two charming towns: Parma and Reggio Emilia. Parma is famous for its Parma ham, so it's a must for food lovers - but not just for food lovers. A city of art and history, take the time to stroll around Piazza del Duomo and visit the Gothic Battistero and the church of San Giovanni Evangelista, home to lavish frescoes by Correggio. Not far from here is Reggio Emilia, the city of the Tricolore, which has played a key role in Italy's history, and which exudes a timeless atmosphere as you stroll through the pretty streets of its Old Town, where you will be struck by the beauty of its palaces, churches, and Baroque buildings. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3 - Modena & its Balsamic Vinegar
Reggio Emilia, Modena.
Breakfast at the hotel. Discover the enchanted city of Modena. Enjoy a stroll around the city centre, the Piazza Grande which is home to the majestic cathedral, and the Civic Tower, before visiting a balsamic vinegar factory. You'll have the chance to sample the region's black gold accompanied by a selection of Parmesan Reggiano, cold meats, and the famous Italian wine: Lambrusco. If time permits, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Enzo Ferrari Museum, a presentation of his life and work as a great car designer on display in his childhood home, as well as iconic car models to be discovered in a futuristic building. For lovers of opera and Italian culture, head to the Pavarotti Museum! Preserved in his country house, where he lived out the final years of his life, are all of the objects he loved to have around him - memories of his family, his friends, and pupils to whom he gave singing lessons. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4 - Bologna
Bologna.
Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a visit to the capital of Emilia Romagna: Bologna, well known as home to the oldest universities in Europe. Piazza Maggiore, with its monumental vaulted columns, is lined with significant medieval buildings such as the Town Hall, Neptune's Fountain, and the Basilica of San Petronio. Among the many medieval towers, the most famous are Asinelli and Garisenda, which offer breathtaking views of the city. Before you leave, don't miss the chance to sample some authentic tortellini. Settle in for 2 nights in the Ozzano nell'Emilia region.
Day 5 - Ravenna
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, departure for the ancient capital of the Western Roman Empire, where you'll discover one of the world's most dazzling mosaic collections as you push open the doors of its churches and monuments. Eight palaeochristian monuments are on UNESCO's World Heritage List, including the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the
Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, and the Mausoleum of Theodoric;
Day 6 - Bologna to France
Breakfast at the hotel. This is the end of your tour. Return your hire car to Bologna Airport and board your return flight.
