Upon arrival, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your hotel. Free evening.

Dinner at leisure and overnight at the hotel

After breakfast at the hotel, drive north towards Laikipia, passing through breathtaking scenery with rushing mountain streams and tea and coffee plantations. Arrival at the lodge in time for lunch and a safari in the Ol Pejeta Reserve, returning to the lodge at sunset.

After breakfast, departure to Lake Nakuru. Afterwards, settle in and enjoy lunch at Savora Lion Hill Lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a magnificent safari to see the Rothschild's giraffe and other iconic African species. Return to the lodge at sunset.

Dinner and overnight stay at the camp

After breakfast at the hotel, you'll set out to explore the Masai Mara Reserve, travelling by 4x4 through acres of rolling wheat and barley farms to Narok, the district capital of this part of Maasailand. From here you'll cross the vast plains of the Rift Valley, keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelles, before heading up the Rift Valley escarpment. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and a moment to relax before returning to the park for your afternoon safari until sunset.

Dinner and overnight stay at the camp

Full day safari in the Masai Mara. The landscape of rolling plains, woodlands, riverine forests and hills is home to millions of animals. Every year, the famous Mara River plays host to the spectacle of the wildebeest migration. The reserve is also a bird paradise with over 450 different species.

Return to the lodge at sunset.

After breakfast at the camp, you will leave for the capital of Nairobi where you will have lunch before being transferred to the airport for a domestic flight to Mombasa, which takes around 1 hour. Once you arrive, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.

Boat trips to see dolphins, snorkelling, city tours, and cultural visits... there's something for everyone.

Full board is provided from the morning of day 2 to dinner on day 5. Thereafter, you will be on half-board from the morning of day 6 to the morning of day 11.

  • Day of arrival and welcome: On disembarking from the plane, you will pass through immigration where your visa will be checked. You will then collect your luggage and on your way out a local SawaSawa Africa representative in uniform will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name.
  • Hotel only package: for people booking the "hotel only" package (without international flights), please provide us with your flight details as soon as possible via the contact form in the "Help and Contact" section at the bottom of the page, so that we can organise your transfers. The flights you choose should arrive before midday on day 1 and leave after 6 p.m. on day 7 so that you can take full advantage of the tour.
  • Please note: as indicated, all accommodation is rated 4- and 5-star according to local standards. The services provided may not be equivalent to European 4-star and 5-star standards.
  • The visit order may be changed for logistical reasons.
  • Visa: An e-visa procedure is mandatory prior to departure. This can be processed on the official Kenyan government website. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. Once you have applied for an e-visa, you will have to wait up to 4 working days to receive it. We recommend that you print it out and present it when you arrive in Kenya.

Practical details

If you are travelling alone, you will be asked to pay a surcharge for a single room. This additional charge will be automatically included in your quote.
Child rates will be applied for children from 2 to 12 years old in the case where the child shares the room with two adults. If the child is travelling with just one adult, the surcharge may be applied on an adult basis. If your child or children do not fit into the age group mentioned above, the rate will be communicated to you at the time of processing your order. If the room is equipped with a bunk bed, the bed height is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
For safety reasons, the wellbeing facilities of most establishments are not accessible to children under 16 years old. Similarly, it is possible that some amenities or services require an additional charge or are unavailable for exceptional reasons.
Unless otherwise stated in the service description, activities and any additional services available at destination are provided in the language of the destination country and in English.

Once your reservation has been made, you will receive a confirmation e-mail before your travel documents are sent.
Regarding the transport documents (in the case of a reservation with transport included), we will provide you with all the information relating to check-in and luggage in the "Your travel documents" email, allowing you to leave with peace of mind.
To take advantage of all your reserved services (hotels, transfers, activities, etc.), you will receive one or more exchange vouchers to be presented to each supplier.
The contact details of the establishment will be specified in these documents, to help make your arrival at your destination as straight-forward as possible.

Transportation

Choose an offer and, according to your preferences, opt for a seat in economy, business or first class.

In order to best organise your time in the airport, we advise that you arrive 2 hours before boarding for a medium-haul flight, or 3 hours before boarding for a long-haul flight (more than 5 hours). Take advantage of your early arrival to pass through security and check your luggage.
You will be informed whether or not luggage is included at the time of your booking.
You will have the opportunity to add additional luggage for a fee.
There are several different cities that are typically offered as departure points. Your arrival destination will show in your travel documents.
Depending on the flight schedule, some arrivals or returns may be made at night with early arrival or late departure. You will not always be able to have your room available immediately and will need to refer to the check-in and check-out conditions of the hotel.
In the event that your transfer is not included in your hotel reservation, it may be offered at the time of your reservation as an additional option. Unless specifically mentioned, transfers may be made in groups of 15 to 55 people.

Formalities

Canadian citizens must hold a valid passport to enter Kenya. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Kenya and must contain at least one blank page.

Canadian nationals are required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to departure. The application must be completed online through the official Kenyan government website. Visas on arrival are no longer issued.

Final admission to Kenyan territory is determined by immigration authorities upon arrival. Travelers may be required to present proof of onward or return travel, accommodation details, and sufficient financial means.

Travelers are strongly advised to review health recommendations prior to departure. Several vaccinations are recommended for travel to Kenya, including yellow fever. A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required upon entry, particularly if travelers have transited through or originated from a country at risk. Routine vaccinations should be up to date. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses and repatriation is strongly recommended.

Travelers must comply with Kenyan laws and regulations during their stay. Local laws may differ from those in Canada, and identity checks may be conducted by local authorities.
