Please be advised of a change in regulations concerning travel to Zanzibar. Foreign visitors to Zanzibar are now required to take out travel insurance upon arrival (up to 92 days' stay in the islands). All foreign visitors must take out mandatory travel insurance at a cost of US$44 per person directly from the website of the national insurer, Zanzibar Insurance Corporation, prior to arrival: www.visitzanzibar.go.tz. Please note that for destinations where a visa is required, the processing and issuance time is approximately between 72 hours and one month. For some destinations, it may take up to 3 months to process and obtain a visa (notably China, Japan, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Mongolia and Thailand). Other destinations may require a visa application to be made up to 4 months before the date of departure. It is recommended that non-Belgian nationals contact the embassies and consulates of the country of destination, as well as the diplomatic or consular representation of their country of origin in Belgium.
